History of blackjack
Blackjack is the most popular casino card game in the world. It is also known as 21. Blackjack is usually played with a single set of 52 cards excluding the joker. The dealer deals two cards for the player and himself. The intention is to get as close to the number of 21 as possible. If you get more than 21 you are considered to be ‘Bust’. If you bust you will no longer be able to play the hand.
The story goes that blackjack started in the 17th century in France, where it is called “vingt-et-un”. But Spanish literature describes a game, that was played by Italy’s elite, where you no more than 21 points may be totaled. Immigrants took the basic variant to the United States and there was given its current name blackjack. This name arose because there was a rule which provided that if the first two cards are an ace and a jack of spades (blackjack) you won ten times what you bet.
Online Blackjack

Blackjack is a card game based on skill (counting) and luck.
The value of the cards are:
- All face cards (King, Queen and Jack) are worth 10 points.
- Aces count as 1 or 11.
- For all other cards count the numbers (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10)
If you have received two cards you have the choice: ‘stand’ (no additional cards) or ‘hit’ (ask for another card). If the first two cards have the same value you can split them. You can play with two hands simultaneously, although it will cost you a double deposit. If you and the dealer have the same score you get your money back. This is called a ‘push’. If you think your odds are not great you have the option to take insurance.
